Kali

Kali

Filipino Stick and Knife Fighting

Stick

The first stage of Kali is learning to wield a stick with power and accuracy. Once you can do this, many things in your environment became a weapon in your hands! We always say "Everything Is Kali!"

Knife

Knife fighting is a foolish endeavor.  The only thing more foolish would be getting caught in a knife fight and not know what to do. While knife fights (like all fights) should be avoided, Kali will teach you what to do and how to survive.

Empty Hand

The only thing worse then being in a knife fight, is being in one empty handed. At it's highest level, Kali will teach you how to control and disarm a weapon even if you don't have one of your own.

What is Kali?

Kali is the name given to the many stick and knife fighting arts of the Philippines. Kali is unique in the world of martial arts, because it starts its students off with a weapon and then works them up to fighting with empty hands. This system uses an effective combination of motion grouping, combat drills, and sparring to develop the reflexes of its practitioners. In this art you will learn the most efficient way to handle a Stick, Knife, Sword, and any combination of the three in a combative situation. At our school, we teach techniques from the Inosanto La Coste tradition as well as the Pekiti Tirsia system of Kali.
