Flashing Wings
Step right foot back to neutral bow. Left Destruction Block. Kali step to the left with a right Palm Heel Hook (traveling from 3 to 9). Then on the back swing (9 to 3) hook the back of their head with the right hand to bend them over. Execute a Left Chop to the neck. Step Back with the left foot as you do a right Eye Rake followed by a right Back Fist.
Striking Mace
Kali Step Left, left inward block followed quickly by a Right backfist to temple, (the block and hit are like a round block) RT sidekick to knee.
Monkey Fist
Kali steps Left with a body sector, sweep the right hand up to their left shoulder and outside reap.

Chopping the Stump
Step Left foot back as you simultaneously parry their left jab and deliver a right hook kick to their lead thigh. Place your right foot down to 2:00 as you execute a right eye jab, end with a left hook kick to their midsection or the inner thigh of their lead leg.

Step Back into an Orthodox Cat Stance as you parry right then left to block the punches. End with a Left Snap Kick, Left Eye Jab, Right Elbow
Two Man Attack
Hero Shield A, B
- One man at 12:00, One man at 6:00. Attacking the man at 12:00, you right snap kick, right eye jab, right pac sao + left elbow, and then right Kali Scoop into Rotary Hold. Then turn that man around so that they are between you and the second opponent. Make sure your head is hidden behind the guy you are holding. *
- One man at 12:00, One man at 6:00. Attacking the man at 12:00, you arm drag them to get behind them. Then use your right forearm across their throat and a left punch to the back to bend them backward for a Rear Naked Choke. *
*Note: once you have hero Shield, get loud and make it clear to the second man you will gravely injure their friend if they don't back off.
* This is also a good time to discuss who to preemptively attack in 2 on 1 situations. You should attack whoever's doing the most talking, unless someone is trying to move to your rear.
Whirling Blades
One man at 12:00 one man at 6:00. The man at 12:00 throws a right straight punch. Kali Step left as you Split sector the punch. Then step your right foot forward to 10:00 as you turn counterclockwise to face them at 6:00 as you do a Left Hammer fist to the man at 12:00. Then the man at 6:00 throws a right straight. You right inward block on the inside of their arm, Right Snap Kick, Down, Right shuto. Step Slide forward, Right Upward Elbow, Right Downward Claw. End by moving out from between them.
- Note: The spin is to get you out from between them while hitting hard. Unfortunately the second man attacks you while your left arm is extended forcing you to defend with the wrong hand (blocking on the inside). Use the shuto to push your opponent back because they Bridge the gap, nullifying your spin out.
Attack From Sides
Winds of Destruction
Your opponent throws a right cross from your right flank. Step your left foot to 2:00 as you Round Block ending in a right eye jab (be sure to keep your head below the eye jab arm). Then your right hand secures their wrist as you do a left Uppercut Elbow to break their elbow. Use your left hand to scoop their arm out of the way as you execute a Right Elbow. Then use your right hand to hook their head as you drive a right knee into their abs. End in a rotary Take Down.
Crossing Hammers
The opponent is at 3:00 throwing a right jab. Right step to 2:00 as you round block (Left parry, right fan). Step left foot forward into an orthodox neutral bow as you throw a left angle one hammer fist to the back of their neck while chambering your right hand palm down under your left elbow like a lan sao. Right shuto to the back of their neck, right grabs the back of their collar (in order to keep them from turning into you), left shovel punch to the kidney.
- Note: Unlike winds of destruction, we do not attach to the body because we stepped with the “wrong leg” in crossing hammer. If we grapple with our legs crossed we will be pulled off base. So we use striking to correct our footwork before we attack.
Defending a Friend

- The opponent is facing away from you. Use your right forearm across their throat and a left punch to the back to bend them backward for a Rear Naked Choke. If you don't want your friend to strike the attacker you have restrained, then turn the attacker around putting yourself between them and your friend. You will need to block their shoulder as you spin using the hand that is not around their neck to prevent them turning out of the choke.
- The opponent is facing away from you. Grab their shoulders and oblique kick the back of their knee to pull them into a Rear Naked Choke. If you don't want your friend to strike the attacker you have restrained, then turn the attacker around putting yourself between them and your friend. You will need to block their shoulder as you spin using the hand that is not around their neck to prevent them turning out of the choke.
Opponent Catches Your Kick
Thrusting Limb
The moment your opponent catches your kick, drive your weight forward and down towards the caught limb as you strike an eye jab with the nearest hand.
Rear Bear Hug, arms pinned, and Lift.
Counter the Carry Off
As the lift, Grapevine your left leg around the inside of their leg to prevent the pickup. Once they put you down proceed to any Rear Bear Hug escape. Drop down into a horse stance and Superman your arms. Be sure you use your butt to make more space (ass attack). Then right yes elbow to the liver. Take your right foot to your left foot, then step right to 6:00 turning clockwise to face your opponent. This motion should circle your right foot around the outside of their left leg. End with double eye gouge.
Single Hand Choke
Seven Swords
Step right foot forward to neutral bow. Right Inward Block on the inside of the pushing arm, Right shuto, Left Eye Jab, Right Vertical Fist to the Solar Plexus, Left Eye Rake (moving from right to left), Right Palm Heel Hook as you hinge step your left foot counterclockwise to 3:00, Right shuto.
Arching Blades
Step your left foot back to 6:00 as you do a right inward block to the inside of their right pushing arm, use a right snap kick to bridge the gap to 12:00. Assuming the snap kick doubles your opponent over, then execute the following ABC: Right shuto, Left Angle 1 Chop, Right Uppercut Elbow, Right Downward Claw. The Shuto and Chop will be to their neck or the back of their head, the elbow will lift them up, and the claw will gouge the eyes.
Single Lapel Grab
Advancing Phoenix (Their left hand grabs your right lapel)
- The left hand pins their left hand to your chest. Step your left foot back into a southpaw cat stance. Use a right inward block to break their left elbow. Then a Right Snap Kick to the groin. Then use a right 12 to 6 elbow on their broken arm to bring them closer to you (like a dumog arm drag but with your elbow). End the technique with a Right Uppercut Elbow followed by a right downward claw.
Broken Staff (Opponent at your right side grabbing with their right hand)
- Left and pin their left hand to your chest. Then execute a right eye flick. Then circle your right arm around clockwise into an over hook on their left elbow. “Bar Song '' your right arm to break their elbow. Then circle your right arm counterclockwise into the following ABC: Right Silat Hook, Right Back Fist, Left Palm Strike
Double Wrist Grab
Anvil
Step back with your left foot into a cat stance as you do a double breakaway, bringing both of your thumbs to your shoulders. Right snap kick, down. Assuming their hands are up, Clear both with a downward hooking motion like fook sao to the inside of their wrist. This will result in your right hand clearing their left hand at 3:00, and your left hand clearing their right hand at 9:00. Then body fold clench with your body on their left side, Minor Outside Hook throw hooking with the right foot.
- Note: This technique used to end with a downward clear into a butterfly palm, but the palms were replaced with the Minor Outside Hook.
Clearing Wings
They grab your wrist while your hands are up in your on-guard position. Execute a Left followed by a Right rolling bong sao so clear the grip. End with a right Shuto then Kali step right into the left ridge hand.
Overhead Club Attack
Crossing The Sun
Step left foot forward and you X block at their wrist. Right hand lop saos as you break their arm with a left upward elbow. Use the left elbow to bend them over with a police arm bar as you hinge step back with your right foot. Then execute a left reverse elbow to their face, then an upward eye claw (the motion is like starting a lawnmower) and finally a 12 to 6 elbow.
Spinning from the Sun (Kali – Stop block and grab)
Step left foot forward as you execute a X block at the wrist of the opponent. Grab their wrist with your right hand, push their arm clockwise to set up for and execute a Kali Ejecting Disarm, retaining the club.

- Moving any natural weapon from wherever it originates rather than cocking it before deploying it. This helps to eliminate telegraphing of moves.

- The circle of combat is a circle that surrounds you that extends as far as you're kicking range. No stranger or threat should ever be within that circle.
Who to Preemptively Attack in Two on One Situation?
- Attack the “mouth”, the one doing the most talking. If you take out the leader, his followers will often scatter. Unless you have one silent person who is walking around trying to get to your rear.
