At The School of Self Defense, we frequently hear one question: "Am I too old to start martial arts?" Our answer is always a resounding "No." As martial arts legend Dan Inosanto, who continues to train well into his 80s, famously said: "It’s not a matter of age; it’s a matter of how you train."


Our Silver Dragons program is specifically designed for adults aged 55+ who want effective, real-world self-defense without the high-impact strain of traditional classes. Whether you are managing an old injury or simply looking for a safe way to stay active, our curriculum adapts to you.


Lead instructor Michael Valenti brings years of experience teaching students of all ages, including regular sessions at local retirement communities. He’s seen firsthand that age is no barrier to excellence. One of his own students even won a Wu Shu Gold Medal at age 60! Michael often reminds us that his most influential teachers were all between 60 and 80 years old.


There’s an old proverb that says, "Running water never grows stale." Our Silver Dragons class will help you keep moving. You don't need to run a marathon to be a martial artist; remember by coming to this class you will be running laps around everyone who stayed on the couch! It’s just about training smart.
